Limits in Life

Posted on July 17, 2011 at 8:56 AM Comments comments (1)

Somebody once asked John Henry Newman why the Catholic Church and its rituals were hated so much. He replied, "Because the same spirit that once hollered out "CRUCIFY HIM" is still very much alive and well today."

The press and the mainstream media, along with Hollywood, academia, atheists, and SOME protestants, hate the Holy Catholic Church. Why? Because they see things through the lens of the here and now, rather than the hereafter.  They think that absolute freedom of the mind and the body is what life is all about, and they want NO limits in their life, while the Church, which has Jesus Christ as its head (Ephesians 5:23), says no to them and the world, and that there are limits in life.

Just ask yourself about limits in life - Should we all be allowed to eat whatever we want to, whenever we want to, as much as we want to? Should we all be allowed to drive as fast as we want to on the freeway, and drink alcohol while we do?  The obvious answer is no, because there are natural limits in eating and driving. The same is true in life, with sex, with lying, with stealing, with doing our own thing, etc.  The absolute worst thing that can happen to a man or a woman is to live life with too much money, too much sex, too much comfort, and too much food.

And the Holy Catholic Church is there forever to tell us about these limits, so as to get us into heaven, the true goal of life. And we get there by getting as close to Jesus Christ as possible in all things, which is what confession and Holy Communion are all about. When we receive Holy Communion in a state of grace following a good confession, Christ abides in us, and we in him (John 6:56)

And always remember - Being holy does not get us closer to Christ;  Rather, getting closer to Christ makes us holy!

False Profits

So many churches these days have stylish good looking great speaking preachers who preach another gospel than the one Jesus Christ preached. They preach the prosperity gospel, and it goes something like this - "God loves you, and wants you to be rich and successful in this life." Now if we stop right there, you will find that Jesus never promised anyone prosperity in this life; rather, he promised eternal life and happiness in the next life to all who pick up their cross and follow him in this life.

St. Paul talks about preachers who tickle the ears of people, and how we should avoid them in 2 Timothy 4:3.  When the rich young man came up to Jesus and asked Him what he must do to be saved, Jesus told him to sell all of his possessions, give the money to the poor, and then come and follow Him.  The preachers of today who preach the health and wealth gospel say something like - "Give your money to me, and God will reward you tenfold in this life."  But that is more of an Old Testament preaching instead of a New Testament preaching. In the Old Testament, riches were seen as a sign that God favored you; but in the New Testament, riches are seen as something that can bog you down in the affairs of this world, where the devil is the god (2 Corinthians 4:4) while keeping you from the eternal reward of heaven in the next world:

James 5:1-5: Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you. Your riches have rotted and your garments are moth-eaten.   Your gold and silver have rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have laid up treasure for the last days. Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have fattened your hearts in a day of slaughter.

So if you do come into a lot of money, be very wary of what it can do to you. And don't be taken in by the health and wealth hucksters on TV that will con you into a donation.  They are NOT preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, but a tradition of man cleverly disguised as the gospel.

33 Day Consecration to Jesus through Mary begins TODAY!

Today begins the 33 day Consecration to Jesus through Mary in anticipation of the Assumption of Mary on 15 August. This Consecration was begun by one of the Catholic Church's greatest saints, Saint Louis de Montfort, from France.  From, here is a short bio of him:

Always a pious child and especially devoted to prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, when the brilliant St. Louis de Montfort (A.D. 31 January 1673 - 28 April 1716) reached the age of 19, he gave away all he had and resolved to live on alms. He was ordained a priest in Paris, worked for some time as a hospital chaplain, but then came to devote his time to preaching -- a task he was extremely gifted at. He went on to found the Daughters of Wisdom -- an Order devoted to hospital work and educating poor girls -- and the Company of Mary (the Montfort Fathers), a missionary group of priests. It was his devotion to Mary, though, for which he is most remembered.

The Consecration to Jesus through Mary consists of 33 days of meditation, prayer and scripture on 4 different topics - The world, ourselves, Mary, and then Jesus. On the 34th day, after confession and Holy Communion, we say the prayer of Consecration to Jesus through Mary.   Why go through Mary? Well, because Jesus chose to come into this world through Mary for mankind. Similarly, mankind should choose to go through Mary to Jesus.  Mary is very much alive and intercedes for us daily to her Son, because she is the Queen Mother of Heaven (the mother of the King of Heaven), and according to the Bible, in 1 Kings 2:18, the role of the Queen Mother is to intercede on behalf of her people. Mary did this at the wedding feast at Cana, when she interceded for the hosts who had run out of wine. And even though Jesus said it wasn't His time yet, he performed a miracle at His mother's request. Mary's last recorded words in the Bible are "Do whatever He tells you."

And just as Mary molded Jesus in her womb with her humility, meekness, love, and goodness, just so, Mary can mold us into better Christians by giving us these same virtues in abundance.

So please take the 33 day consecration to Jesus through Mary - It will change your life, and Mary's spouse, the Holy Spirit, will come into your life like never before!

Meatless Fridays

This is a great article from Catholic It says that the Catholic Church in England has brought back the Friday practice of abstaining from meat the year round.  The American Bishops did away with this mandatory practice, instead saying that Catholics could chose their own Friday penance, aside from eating fish or veggies. Unfortunately, the second part - doing another type of penance - is something that most Catholics have never heard about, certainly not from the pulpit on Sunday.  So take the time to consider what your penance will be each and every Friday of the year.

From the referenced article, Fr. Raymond J.  De Souza:

According to the universal law of the Church, all Fridays, save for those which coincide with solemn feasts (e.g. St. John the Baptist this year), are days of abstinence: no eating meat. But the code of canon law permits the bishops of various countries to modify the rule. Most countries did just that some 40 years ago, saying that while the obligation to do penance held, each Catholic could choose for himself what that penance might be."

Theology and the Bible

You will find that theology is hard...Reading the bible from a literal perspective is what most people to, but there is also the moral perspective (how it refers to you), the allegorical perspective (how it refers to Jesus), and the anagogical perspective (how it refers to the future heaven and earth).

And there is also biblical typology, where OT people or events reference NT people or events. For instance -

  • The Passover where the Jews had to eat the sacrificial lamb to save their first born son directly parallels the Eucharist, where Catholics have to eat the sacificial lamb (Jesus) in order for us to be saved (from John 6).
  • Psalm 22 and Wisdom 2 are direct references to the Passion of Jesus Christ.
  • Moses changed the water of the Nile to blood; Jesus changed water into wine, and later changed wine into his blood, the fruit of the Vine (Jesus is the vine, we are the branches).
  •  Eve, an immaculately created virgin, said yes to the spirit Lucifer and ate of the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil and allowed sin to enter the world. Mary, also an immaculately created virgin, said yes to the spirit Gabriel and allowed the Bread of Life to enter the world, bringing salvation to us from the tree known as the cross.

The list is practically endless, but most people don't ever connect the typology dots.

Please don't forget to say some prayers for the poor souls in Purgatory today. There may be people still there from the Civil War days, because there is no one to pray for them.  People in Purgatory are indeed saved, but they are undergoing purification of their souls before they can enter the beatific vision of the pure and holy God in heaven. They can't pray for themselves, being the Church Suffering, but we, the Church Militant on earth, can pray for them.  And the good part is that if we pray for them now, God will see to it that when our turn comes, someone will be praying for us as well. Please don't forget to do this daily, and ESPECIALLY if you happen to pass by a cemetery.  Remember- We will all wind up there one day, and what goes around, comes around. Neglect them now, and you will be neglected. Pray for them now, and someone will pray for you when your turn comes.  THANKS!

Prayer of St. Gertrude the Great

Our Lord dictated the following prayer to St. Gertrude the Great to release 1,000 Souls from Purgatory each time it is said.

"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."

Who Gets Tempted the Most?

‎"Whom does the devil pursue most? Perhaps you are thinking that it must be those who are tempted most; these would undoubtedly be the habitual drunkards, the scandalmongers, the immodest and shameless people who wallow in moral filth, and the miser, who hoards in all sorts of ways. No, my dear brethren, no, it is not these people. On the contrary, the Devil despises them, or else he holds onto them, lest they not have a long enough time in which to do evil, because the longer they live, the more their bad example will drag souls into Hell.

So, you will ask me, who then are the people most tempted? They are these, my friends; note them carefully. The people most tempted are those who are ready, with the grace of God, to sacrifice everything for the salvation of their poor souls, who renounce all those things which most people eagerly seek. It is not one devil only who tempts them, but millions seek to entrap them."

God and Country

The Founding Fathers hated the English model of governance, the Divine Right of Kings, where the rights came from God to the King, who then doled them out to the peasantry as the King saw fit. The Founding Fathers turned this model on its head, and created a government where the rights came from God (OUR CREATOR in the Declaration of Independence) to the people, who then give them back to the government as we the people see fit. That's why the Declaration of Independence closes with these words: "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor."

DIVINE PROVIDENCE means Godly protection, and it's the Judeo- Christian God they were referring to, not Buddha, Allah, Brahman, or any other kind of god.

Homosexual Marriage and New York

Posted on July 5, 2011 at 10:22 AM Comments comments (0)

Well, Governor Andrew Cuomo got his wish. New York City and the Great State of New York have now been turned into a modern day Sodom and Gomorrah.  The homosexual activists, who have stolen the rainbow, God's sign that He will never destroy the world by a flood again, as their symbol, now have the 3rd largest state in the Union on-board with their "sodomy = the conjugal act between husband and wife" agenda approved.

Pride was the devil's great sin, and the homosexual activists have also stolen that from the devil, boldly strutting around with "Gay Pride" signs.  There is nothing gay about homosexual sex, which needs condoms to prevent the spread of HIV and other venereal diseases.   If it's so wonderful, then how come disease is so easily spread by it? Of course we have to love the homosexuals as creatures of God, the same as us, but we certainly DON'T have to agree with their agenda.

I remember when New York City proudly displayed so-called "artwork" of the Blessed Virgin Mary with feces and female body parts around her.  I didn't think that it was wise for the city to fund that and "Piss Christ", a crucifix in urine "art".  Well, when 9/11 happened, I thought - I hope they're happy. Now they've gone and mocked God's word again, this time even worse, with the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah now being "the law of the land".  May God have mercy on us, because thanks to politicians like Andrew Cuomo, we are no longer "One nation under God", but rather, "One nation under Man."

Mother Mary, please pray for our Country

Hail Mary, Full Of Grace, the Lord IS with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, and our country, now, and at the hour of our death. Amen
