Homosexuality – Nothing seems to stir up the culture wars faster than this topic. On one side you have a group of people who see this lifestyle as being no different than any other lifestyle. After all, it’s a matter of live and let live, a civil rights issue akin to the 1960’s and Martin Luther King. Who are we to tell anyone else how to live? On the other side, you have a group of people who think that homosexuality is an abomination in the eyes of God, and it should never be allowed at any time. Is it natural to put a sexual organ and its emissions into the digestive system of same sex partners, or should sexual organs only be put into complementary sexual organs of the opposite sex? And if homosexual practices are normal, then why all of the VD and early death rates among homosexuals? Who’s right?
Here's what the late Bishop Sheen once said about right and wrong - "Right is right, even if no one is right. Wrong is wrong, even if everyone is wrong."
The bible says in Genesis 19:24 that
The secular humanists among us don’t understand why anyone would invoke the teachings of the bible regarding homosexuality in the 21rst century. Notice how the date is always mentioned in this debate, as if to say that we are all enlightened now, and the superstitions and old wives’ tales of the bible are all passé.
“I’m smart because I think for myself, and you’re stupid because you believe the Pope and the bible.” After all, people who believe what the bible teaches are out of step with the current realities of the modern world and the “enlightenment”. Be like us, say the secularists, and leave all of that bible nonsense to the middle ages. Then, you will be free to pursue your own self interests without any artificial constraints on your way of thinking. And that is a sure recipe for hell. The devil is only too happy for people to make up their own moral codes based on what they “feel” is right. 6 billion people on earth with 6 billion different moral codes – a demon’s delight.
A long time ago, the homosexuals had a very good argument – “What we do in the privacy of our own home is no one else’s business, so leave us alone”. Sounds good, right? Of course, this argument never took into account the billions of dollars spent on the resultant AIDS research, millions of public dollars spent on the hospitalization for AIDS patients, the resulting increase in insurance rates for us all, and the lost taxes due to early death of homosexuals. AIDS was never taken into account in any of these discussions, except for the fact that it became a protected disease. In the federal government, AIDS education classes were held to make people aware of the fact that a supervisor couldn’t tell his employees that the absent worker had AIDS. In the military, “Don’t ask, don’t tell” became the policy. In other words, the military would not dishonorably discharge any troop for homosexuality unless the person was caught in the act. Why would they even want to discharge anyone for homosexuality in the first place? Close quarters in the community showers, for one reason. A male homosexual showering with males is the sexual equivalent of a man showering with a bunch of women. And which recruit in the military wants to be stared at sexually while taking a shower? None. Definitely bad for morale. And then there is the spread of VD in the military, already a problem with heterosexual hookups. And then there are the community sleeping quarters…
Now, however, this “privacy of our own home” argument has morphed into an argument of “society has to accept our lifestyle as normal and equal to marriage, and we will sue you, publish your names and addresses, and demonstrate angrily if you publicly come out against us.” Quite a difference in the last 30 years or so. These brownshirt tactics used to intimidate Christians may make the homosexuals feel great about themselves, but it only serves to show that they are in the business of thought control, used by the Nazis and the Soviets. “Believe like us, OR ELSE YOU GET IT!” Scary indeed. The homosexual activists have set up this straw man that says “If you disagree with our agenda on homosexual marriage, then that means you hate us”. Wow. Disagreement on an important societal issue like marriage equals hate? What if we all did that – “You disagree with me on raising taxes, public transportation, or health care, and therefore you hate me, and I will take it out on you accordingly.” That is a sure fire way for society to break down into hooliganism.
What about the lifespan of homosexuals? Studies have shown that the average year of death for homosexuals is somewhere between 45 and 52 years! Compare this to 70+ years old for heterosexual deaths. And these deaths are not only from AIDS. Sadly, the murder rate (100 times more likely than heterosexuals) and the suicide rate (25 times more likely) are much higher among homosexuals. Why? Because homosexuals are not happy people. The term they use to describe themselves, “gay”, is a misnomer. Anybody that disagrees with them is immediately pounced upon with extreme anger. This is so evident if you ever go to any of their websites and read their comments after an article is published on their lifestyle. Anger leads to a lot of bad things, including suicide and murder.
And the one giant obstacle standing in the way of the homosexual agenda is the Holy Catholic Church. Their goal seems to be to portray the Church as being out of step with reality. They have profaned Masses at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in
From the Holy Bible, the Word of God:
Leviticus 20:13: If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them.
Romans 1:26-28: For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. Their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a base mind and to improper conduct.
1 Timothy 8-11: Now we know that the law is good, if any one uses it lawfully, understanding this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, immoral persons, sodomites, kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is contrary to sound doctrine, in accordance with the glorious gospel of the blessed God with which I have been entrusted.
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
2357 Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity, tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered." They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
In short, homosexuality is not a normal state of life. Everyone, including homosexuals, have to overcome lust. No one gets a pass on this task. Lust is sinful, whether it is homosexual lust or heterosexual lust. And everyone is called to celibacy that is not married to a person of the opposite sex. Homosexuals are not to be hated or impugned; they are to be loved and prayed for. A great strategy is that we do all of the praying, and we leave all of the judging to God. And when they insult us and maybe even spit on us, we are to do just like Jesus did during the Passion – Turn the other cheek and ask God to forgive them. Why? Because no servant is greater than his Master (John 13:16). Jesus said that they hated Him, and they will hate us too if we follow Him (John 15:18). That prophecy of Jesus is certainly being fulfilled today in this battle for the hearts and minds of the world concerning homosexuality and the homosexual agenda.
